The largest seed in the world, September 2009
Go visit the National Park on the Seychelles Island, Praslin and see the Coco-de Mer Palm in Valle de Mai, one of UNESCO´s World Heritage Sites. The Palm produces the largest seed in the world - Mammoth 30 kg - and is endemic to only two of the 115 Seychelles Island, Praslin and Curieuse. The double coconut has separate male and female trees .The female tree has to be 15 years before it makes seeds and it takes 6 years for the seed to be mature. It is also possible to see the Coco-de-Mer Palm at Kew Garden, Surrey, UK.
